TeamTemi Durban chose to take some time out from site for a CSR initiative at Tholimfundo Day Care Centre located in Umlazi KZN. We always believe that the construction industry must give back to the communities in which we work.
Our dynamic team comprising site management and general assistants were welcomed warmly by staff members at the centre. The team made two main visits to the centre during November 2019. The initial visit revealed that the centre could do with some construction and repair work which we were happy to help with.
On 13 November, we completed a few construction-related jobs including:
- Putting gravel in areas around the centre that became muddy during the rainy season.
- Repainting the jungle gym to make sure the children do not injure themselves on rusty metal.
- Fixing the pallets in the children’s play area.
- Trimming a tree whose branches were interfering with the roof structure and the safety of the little ones.
On 16 November, our team of management and senior staff members supported their graduation event held at Umlazi Glebelands Hall. 55 graduates were led by their dedicated teachers into the hall for spelling word games and reciting, handing out of certificates, photograph moments and prize giving. Our team donated 112 hampers to ensure that each graduate received a one on the day and that other kids from the centre could receive one – even though it was not their graduation day!
