Nestled in the shadow of the Mjanyana mountain range, Etora Primary School is one of 15 mega schools being constructed under the ASIDI programme in the Eastern Cape. Mega, because it is the amalgamation of 5 schools namely, Kidston, Silimela.Mjanyana, Lapefuka and Etora.

Local empowerment is not just some lip service twaddle in the ASIDI programme. 12 SMMEs were subcontracted to this R158 million project. 9 of them were allocated a classroom block of 4 classrooms each, sports field changing rooms and tuck shop to construct 2 were tasked with paving the entire school and a third supplied G5 material, building and plastering sand, sourced from the local community, during the earth works portion of the construction cycle as well as construct 3 ablution blocks. Local empowerment and wealth creation does not come any better.

Not only did three interns work on site for over a year, in the process gaining valuable and practical work experience, one of them has now been permanently employed by Temi Construction and is already at work at one of their sites in KwaZulu-Natal. In keeping with norms and standards, something which ASIDI schools regularly exceed, the facilities below have been provided to teachers, learners and the community.
